EXEGESIS LIMITED - Work Permits and Immigration Specialists
It is essential to have a valid UK work permit before you take up employment in the UK. Your employer applies for this, not you as an individual but we take the hard work out of the process and manage it for employers.
If this is your first work permit, your UK employer sends you the permit abroad for you to enter the country. You need the original permit, as a copy won't be acceptable to give to immigration control, along with your passport.
The time taken for a permit to be processed is about 1 to 2 weeks if there are no complications. Sometimes we can do it quicker than this.
You should normally be out of the country for your first permit though we can help and make an assessment of your situation if you are in the UK already.
If you are a citizen of the European Economic Area you are entitled to work without a permit in the UK and in all the member countries.
Certain permit free categories exist - telephone or e-mail for the categories.
A Government department, Work Permits (UK), considers the work permit application.
You need an up-to-date CV, your qualification certificates (copies), references for 1 or 3 years on ORIGINAL LETTERHEADS - though not every category of work permit will require references, please ask.
Once you have your UK work permit you need to check with the nearest British Diplomatic post in your country of residence what other action you need to take.
